A SUMMER of post-Wimbledon fun is being offered at Barry Athletic Tennis Club on Barry Island.

This Sunday, July 21st starting at 11.30am, is the Nature Valley Big Tennis Weekend Open Session, offering mini tennis taster sessions for youngsters and teens.

Every Wednesdays at 5.30pm onwards until the end of August are free family tennis taster sessions, including tennis coaching for youngsters and grown-ups, as well as adults-only doubles.

A new Tennis for Kids course will also run in the school summer holidays, offering six week’s coaching for new players, including a free racket and shirt.

All junior members are invited to the Free Team Challenge on August 3rd for some fast and friendly singles and doubles games.

Harry Morgan, the club’s chairman, said: “There is something for everyone who loves tennis this summer on Barry Island. There’s coaching for youngsters wanting to learn the game and grown-ups wanting to start playing or who may have become a bit rusty, to adults wanting a game of tennis in a convivial atmosphere - all are welcome.”

Barry Athletics Club offers some of the best facilities for anyone who loves playing tennis in the Barry area at its attractive location on Barry Island, in the grounds of Barry Athletic Club - just behind the promenade on the Island.

Members can enjoy year-round tennis on the club’s four high quality all weather courts.

The club has a partnership with Tennis Squad Coaching Academy with its team of tennis coaches serving award-winning services across South Wales.

The club already runs a doubles men’s team playing in the Cymru Kitchen winter league.

As a member of the LTA the club’s members can enter a draw for Wimbledon tickets at cost price.

While there is no guarantee of a ticket, in previous years, most members wanting tickets have been successful.

The tickets are strictly for personal use only.

Barry Athletic Tennis Club is run by volunteers with any profits re-invested back into the club’s activities and facilities

With its own pavilion with lounge, kitchen, changing rooms, toilets, and showers, it offers good viewing facilities of activities on courts. Members also have free use of tennis balls. There is ample free car parking at all times and members can use the facilities of the bar in the nearby Bowls Pavilion.

Barry Tennis Club is affiliated to Tennis Wales, the National Governing Body for tennis in Wales, which is part of The Lawn Tennis Association.
