SULLY Sports Bowls Club hosted the Millwood in the Munro Cup on Wednesday, 10th July, the weather was very pleasant,, and the green played well and fast.

The conditions suited both teams and a closely fought match ensued, with the Sports winning 3 Rinks (2 by a single shot) and drawing on the 4th Rink, to secure a 72-59 shot win and 13 points.

K Aguis’ rink had a topsy turvy tussle with their opponents, both sides creeping into the lead regularly, and the scores tied on 4 occasions, including with only the final end to play.

Both sides then played some great shots, but the Sports held sway taking a single, and a 18-17 win.

Lee Romans’ rink initially took a lead, but the visitors came back to lead after 10 ends, at which point the home outfit hit form to run out 23-12 victors.

K Roman’s rink were never in the lead, trailed by 5 shots after only 3 ends, traded ends with Millwood until with only 3 ends left, and still 4 shots behind, they took 5 shots to the visitor’s 1, to tie the scores at 12-12.

G Brown’s rink raced into an early lead, were 5 shots up after 8 ends, was even more before Millwood hit back winning 6 of the next 8 ends, so having a 4 shot lead with 2 ends left.

The Sports then found something extra to score 5 shots and snatch a 19-18 victory.

On Saturday, 13th July, Sully Sports entertained Pentyrch in the PGIs, and for the 2nd week running suffered a disappointing heavy defeat, by 50-115, losing on all rinks.

K Aguis’ rink got off to a flying start, winning 5 shots on the opening end, but sadly they could only muster another 5 throughout the match, including only 2 of the last 1 ends, so slipped to a 11-28 defeat.

K Romans’ rink won 10 of the 21 ends, but the visitors scored much more heavily on their winning ends, and the Sports went down 18-33.

C Coomber’s rink were level after 4 ends, but conceded 12 shots in the next 3, and although the game was more even for the remaining ends, they could not close the gap to lose 14-26.

L Romans’ rink were restricted to winning only 6 of the 21 ends, by some fine bowling by Pentyrch, and 4 of those victorious ends were the final 4, but done enough to keep the shot count down a bit, and thus lose by 9-23.

Rink Scores:

P Collier, B Knight, G Tricket, L Romans 09-23;

D Austin, R Gallivan, G Currie, C Coomber 12-31;
