BRYNHILL held a singles Stapleford comp last Sunday, when the prestigious Presidents Cup was the prize on offer, best on the day was Peter Phillips with a handicap busting 40 points, one better than Scott Nelson.

Both players will face the wrath of Handicap Secretary Slasher Giles and can expect to be playing off a couple of strokes less next week.

Next weekend starts with a bit of fun with the Festival Texas Scramble being held on the Saturday, before it gets serious again on the Sunday when two Medal comps are held over this wonderful course, the Bob Hope Trophy (Nett) for the Hackerati while the elites battle it out for the Tennessee Cup (Gross).

On the team front Brynhill Men’s 1st’s secured a solid home win over a good Creigiau side and that was enough to send them to the top of their league.

Wins for O’Carroll/Sullivan, Bowman/Warne with a battling half for Griffiths/Williams securing a two and a half to a half victory.

Meanwhile Brynhill’s wonderful Wayfarers travelled to Whitehall, the Augusta of the Rhonda, where under the woeful leadership of Terrence Chav Hewings they crashed 4-1, only a fighting performance from the Harding/Goodland partnership preventing an embarrassing whitewash.

On Monday the Seniors Championship was won by Andrew Down, whose respectable 38 points was sufficient to edge out Tony Hewlett on a back nine countback.
