JUNE 11 was scheduled for the Ladies' Captain's Competition and Presentation Evening at Brynhill Golf Club.

The dire forecast from our Derek at the BBC Weather, didn’t promise a rain free day.

Jo Kirkpatrick the Ladies' captain made a decision that with the course open and buggies available, the competition would be ON.

Brynhill seemed to have its own little microclimate ,without any rain for the day, compared to the rest of the country.

However the winds were ferocious and made playing conditions very tricky. The Brynhill ladies however are made of stern stuff and went out to play, in support of the Ladies' Captain's Day.

The 18 holes over, the ladies came into the clubhouse frozen and desperate for their tea and coffee.

The Silver Division winner with 32 points - Linda Hewlett and Runner Up Robbie Lee with 28 points.

The Bronze Division Winner with a magnificent 40 points - Lili Mae O' Carroll and runner up vice captain Lisa Taylor with 33 points.

Nearest the Pin on the 9th - Glynis Gould.

The Ladies' captain presented the winners with beautiful Swarovski bracelets, from Paul Gentile Jewellers, Barry. The runners up with vouchers.

There then followed a successful evening entertainment featuring Davey Sheppard on guitar singing a medley of songs from the 60's, 70's and 80's.

The ladies, captain, vice captain and Glynis formed a new girl band, and entertained the ladies with a comedy song.

Jo Kirkpatrick then sang a Robbie Williams song with Davey Sheppard.

Jo thanked Rachel and the catering staff, bar staff and course staff for their help and support during the day and Davey for his excellent entertainment during the evening.
