ON Saturday Barry Athletic entertained Ebbw Vale won the toss and asked them to bat 1st on a beautiful track at the Athletic Ground.

Ebbw Vale got of to a great start putting 125 runs on the board as drinks came and went before they lost their 1st wicket R.Blake for a fine 78, but it was the Barry bowlers who were going to take control, Tom Evison playing his 1st game for 4 years bowled with intelligence taking 3 for 27, ably supported by Sam Hopkins 3 for 12 and nathan Baker 2 for 46 as Ebbw Vale lost their last 6 wickets for 64 runs ending up 218 all out.

Barry's reply got off to a fantastic start as Lloyd Smith and Lee Morgan set about chasing down the Ebbw Vale taget set of 219 and chase they did as Smith playing some majestic and classy shots to all parts of the ground and Lee Morgan doing what he does best by in the supporting Role, Smith out for a brilliant 97, with the score on 165 this brought Nathan Baker to the wicket only for him to play some great shots as himself and Morgan brought Barry home to a fine 9 wicket win with Morgan 64 not out and Baker 34 not out.

Barry 2nd XI travelled to Christchurch Wales on Saturday bowled 1st and Christchurch reached 179 for 7 in their 40 overs with Singh 3 for 43 and Jay 2 for 22.

In reply Barry reached 174 all out with Jay 63, H.Smith 25 and Das 19.

Barry Athletic Juniors have had a successful start to the season with the Under 11s A beating Radyr and The Under 11s B Softball Team beating Creigiau both at home and the Under 13 beating Miskin Manor at Home and Cardiff Central b Away.

The Under 9s start their festivals on Sunday 26th may when the take part in the Penarth Festival.
