SULLY Centurions 1st XI faced Tondu 2nds at Burnham Avenue and, thanks to a fine all round performance ran out winners by 4 wickets.

A three wicket haul from Gareth Thomas, with 2 wickets apiece for Lloyd Bruce, Jake Griffett and Nathan Cuddihy and a wicket from Kieron Ferriday, restricted the visitors to 142 all out. Holmes (25) was the top scorer for Tondu.

In reply, Centurions lost some cheap wickets and at 109 for 5, the match was in the balance. But 43 from skipper Rhett Jones, 34 from Tom Davies and 27 not out from Lloyd Bruce saw Sully home with 5 overs to spare.

The 2nd XI travelled to Ton Pentre with a weakened side due to holidays and work commitments and were well beaten by a strong home side. Tondu batted first and were able to post 225 for the loss of 5 wickets, thanks mainly to a second wicket stand of 153 between Thomas (94) and Davies (59).

Wickets were shared between four bowlers, with Jason Hicks being Centurions' most successful wicket taker, with 2 for 45.

After tea the wickets fell with regularity.

Only Nick Jones (30) and David Morgan (13) reached double figures as Sully were skittled out for 70 in the 25th over.

This was a big disappointment after last week's opening day victory, but Centurions must put it behind them and move on.
