YMCA Barry have had huge success with their women’s artistic and male artistic squad, but the club has recently expanded to into tumbling gymnastics.

YMCA Barry gymnasts competed in their first Tumbling competition, where four boys travelled to Haverfordwest to compete in the Welsh Tumble League, against gymnasts who have focussed on tumbling for many years. Danny Crespo, Ethan Williams, Harvey Burton –Slocombe and Tom Compton had only been training in tumbling gymnastics for two months, so competing at this level in such a short time was a huge achievement.

Under their coach, Gareth Slocombe’s mentoring, the boys performed fantastically and demonstrated great maturity throughout the competition.

In the Seven year old category, Danny Crespo performed beautiful routines and became the Seven year old Foundation stage Welsh Champion!

In the Eight to Nine years Foundation category, against extremely tough competition, Ethan earnt himself Fourth Overall.

In the Ten to Eleven Foundation category, Tom Compton demonstrated very dynamic routines and claimed Second Overall.

Finally in the twelve to thirteen years Foundation category, Harvey Burton – Slocombe became the Welsh Champion!

A huge congratulations to Danny, Ethan, Tom, Harvey and their coach Gareth, excellent results and two Welsh Champions in their first Tumbling competition. Would you like your son or daughter to try gymnastics?
