ON a sunny Saturday evening at the Kymco Stadium, Bridgend, for the first time in the South Wales Intermediate Cups history two teams from the Vale of Glamorgan Leagues faced each other in the final, Holton Road AFC and The Tynewydd FC.

As expected it was a close encounter with Holton eventually winning the match 2-0 thanks to goals from rocket Mondo with another screamer and Shaun Jachontow sealing the victory late on after some great wing play from man of the match Travell Konten.

The win fittingly finished an incredible season with Holton winning an historic treble.

Coach Jeff Howells said: “Now the dust has settled, the champagne smell has been washed out of my beloved ponytail and the reality of our achievement has registered I'd like to say a few thank yous.

"To our supporters who have been there in all weathers especially the youngsters who have been amazing all season.

"To Stu, Carl, Mike and Abi who have backed us behind the scenes doing the unseen work, to our sponsors Avi from the Nisa and Vapestation, Mike and the staff at the Tadross, busy bee insurance to promote awareness regarding the Adams family's ongoing battle #livinginthenow, to my coaches Emlyn and Matt for your time and commitment, my beautiful family for putting up with my nerves and emotions especially on a Friday night but mostly to my squad for simply being who you are.

"Your togetherness, passion, desire and never give up attitude is incredible. You give me so much enjoyment and I can honestly say that it's a privilege to watch you play lads. What a season.

"I'd also like to say a big thank you to the Tynny for their very kind gesture before Saturday's final in giving a donation to the #livinginthenow campaign. Great sportsmanship and appreciated from all at the club. "And finally thank you to Avi and everyone who has donated towards my upcoming Skydive on May 19th in aid of raising funds for the minis and Juniors at Holton Road.

"If you’d like to make a late donation please go to Gofund Me and type in Holton Road AFC.

"I think I've covered mostly everyone, we look forward to seeing you all when we go again next season. Thanks again to everyone who’s been on our incredible journey."
