Cadoxton Barry 1-8 Tynewydd FC

KNOWING that tied for 2nd was the best Tynewydd could achieve league position wise Tynny went into this match more concerned on next week's South Wales Intermediate Cup Final and as such managed Gareth Union shuffled his squad accordingly, giving players a rest or limited minutes.

The most dominant factor in the first half was the blustery conditions Storm Hannah brought with Tynny penned in for most of the half and as such we’re pleased to go in at the break 2-1 up. Cadoxton taking the lead with a penalty before Tom Case levelled with a penalty himself and Joey Matthews finished off a sweeping counter attack.

Elliot Hicks came on in the second half and scored a devastating quick fire hat trick in 20 minutes, the highlight being a left foot volley to go with a right foot tap in and a bullet header to round off a “perfect” hattrick.

Tom Case competed a hat trick for himself, with another penalty and a well taken shot from the edge of the box and Ollie Cooke rounded the scoring off to complete a comfortable win albeit by the end of the match against 7 men as Cadoxton Barry had lost a few players to injuries and other reasons.

Man of the Match went to Joe Pearce for a solid performance at right back.

Squad: C.Coleman, J.Pearce, J.Shepherd, S.Eveleigh, L.Union, J.Matthews, O.Cooke, J.Clissett (C), T.Case, T.Parsons, C.Rattenbury, D.Gibbs, E.Hicks, J.Brana, J.Jones, C.Harding

Tynewydd's players minds quickly shifted in sharp focus for this Saturdays tough cup final against heavy favourites Holton Road, knowing the whole squad will have to be at the top of their game if they are to have a chance.

The final is set to be played this coming Saturday at the Kymco Stadium Pen Y Bont with a 5:30pm kick off.
