SULLY Sports Bowls Club opened their Private Greens season with a visit to Pontyclun, last Saturday, 27th April, on a stormy wild afternoon, and were comprehensively beaten by their hosts by 82-53

Pontyclun won on three rinks with one rink drawing giving the home side 13 points to Sully Sports’ 1 point.

Even though K Aguis’ rink were behind from the 1st end, they kept the scores close for 13 ends, but their only further score was a 2 on 21st and final end.

Lee Romans was behind until the drawing even at the 8th end, and taking the lead on the 9th, but in a closely fought game the lead changed hands 3 more times, with the home side finally clinching victory in the final 2 ends.

Bob Matthews rink led for the 1st 8 ends, and were level after 10 ends, but a disastrous 11th end that saw them concede 7 shots, and the home rink’s drew away for a good win.

G Brown’s rink was behind until the 9th end, then it was nip and tuck till the last end where the scores were tied, and an honourable draw.

Next Sat, 4th May, Sully Sports visit the Murch, Dinas Powys, and then host Rhoose on Wed 8th May, both games are friendlies.
