TYNEWYDD got the better of top of the table Holton Road after coming back to win 2-1 in this Men’s Division One clash.

They got into the game in decent form having turned around a 2-0 half-time deficit against Cardiff Airport to grab a 2-2 draw late on and beating Cwm Tawlg 1-0 with a stunning Richard Yarr freekick ensuring all 3 points.

With Holton previously having the better of the Tynny this season in a few tight games, they came into the game determined to get a victory.

Whilst both teams played some decent football in the first half they largely cancelled each other out with few chances for either team with the noteworthy exception when Callum Coleman saved a header from point blank range to keep it at 0-0 at the interval.

Holton snatched the lead midway through the second half when a defence lapse allowed their striker to drill home from the 6 yard box.

With a strong bench to call upon Tynewydd made some attacking changes to refresh their attack and after a period of sustained pressure they managed to draw level when Craig Rattenbury cut in from the left hand side and curled a pearlier of a shot into the top corner from 30 yards out.

The equaliser inspired the team to keep driving on and 10 minutes from time Tynny took full use of the referees advantage, playing on from a certain freekick, with some neat passing finding Ollie Cooke just inside the 18 yard box, who made no mistake calmly slotting home to make it 2-1.

Making it the same two scorers who’d previously scored in the 2-2 draw v Cardiff Airport.

Tynewydd saw the final minutes out in a well deserved result with the whole squad of 16 all playing their part for the victory against a strong Holton side.

Man of the match was highly contested between numerous players but Coleman snatched the award mainly for his stunning first half save.

Tynewydd have also recently debuted a new kit having received sponsorship from insurance company Admiral which they are extremely grateful for.
