UNBEATEN Sean McGoldrick is planning to keep the momentum built up in Jamie Moore’s gym going when he returns to the ring tomorrow tonight to face Sean Cairns at the Copper Box Arena.
Newport’s McGoldrick (7-0) trains alongside the likes of Carl Frampton, Conrad Cummings, Steven Ward, Rocky Fielding, Martin Murray, Jack Catterall and Chantelle Cameron at the VIP Gym in Wigan.
It has been a good few weeks for the gym recently, and McGoldrick wants to continue the good run of form when he faces Liverpool’s Cairns (3-1) in London this weekend.
Bantamweight McGoldrick, 27, said: “There is a good buzz in the gym. My teammates Marc Leach and Aqib Fiaz put on brilliant performances last week and I’m aiming to keep the momentum going.
“I’ve been training alongside those guys and sparring those guys, so it was great to see them win and everyone is in a good place at the moment.
“Sean Cairns is a good opponent and he’s sparred some of the boys in the gym, and they all speak highly of him.
“He will come to win so I’m expecting a tough night, but I’m more than prepared.”
He added: “The bantamweight division is great at the moment and I’m excited to be a part of it.
“In the next 12 months I’m sure I’ll be matched against some of the other domestic lads, but for now my full focus is on beating Sean Cairns.”
