WHAT a day in the Vale league and we start in the Premier Division, where leaders Barry Athletic were handed a big and surprising 5-2 loss by Cowbridge Town.

Luke Degab grabbed a brace with Jack Gavin, Lloyd Lewis and Jack Cassie getting one each. The result blows the title race wide open now, AFC Rhoose are seven points behind Athletic with two games in hand.

In the other Premier Division game down the opposite end of the table, goals from Raied Jones, Jamie Ross and Dan Lawlor saw Sully Sports see off St Athan 3-0, the result leaves St Athan adrift at the bottom.

In Division One, Champions Holton Road’s 100% record is finally over as Cadoxton Imps become the first team to take anything from the champions in the league this season with a fantastic 2-0 victory. Jamie Livingston and Zach Cleary with the goals.

A phenomenal run of 15 league victories by Holton Road that saw them clinch the title in January must be lauded.

Imps stay three points behind second place Tynewydd who narrowly edged out Cwm Talwg 1-0.

Cardiff Airport picked up their first win in six with a huge victory over SP Billy, Airport go fifth with the victory.

In Division Two, leaders AFC Rhoose edged away from Barry Vikings at the top by three points as they scraped past Cadoxton Athletic 3-2, a double from Chris Morgan and one from Cameron Barrett saw the leaders get the points.

Third place St Athan B lost ground on the leaders by slipping up at home to Island Marine B 3-1. Marine B defeating St Athan B for the second successive week and move up to sixth in the league.

In the cups, Cadoxton Barry saw off Cogan Coronation 2-1 away at the Rec to book a semi final spot in the Supporters Cup to add to their Barry Cup semi final.

In the Dockers Cup, Penarth Town B beat Barry Vikings 4-2 after extra time in a classic cup tie while Vale Madrid edged Barry Athletic B 1-0 to go into the semi finals and have something to shout about after a tough season so far.

Finally, AFC Rhoose bowed out of the SWFA Senior Cup with a 3-2 loss to Tata Steel United.

The semi final draws for the divisional cup see Cowbridge Town play Island Marine in the ASRS Cup and also St Athan or AFC Rhoose playing Penarth Town.

In the Supporters Cup Holton Road play Cadoxton Imps and Cadoxton Barry play Cwm Talwg. In the Dockers Cup, Penarth B play Rhoose B and Vale Madrid take on Island Marine B.
