Tynewydd FC 2-1 Cardiff Airport

TYNEWYDD made it back to back wins and moved up to second in the Men’s Division One table with a hard fought win against Cardiff Airport.

It wasn’t until midway through the first half that either side produced anything of real consequence with the game up to that point similar to the weather, grim.

Tynewydd were caught on the counter attack from their own corner when a quick pass set the Airport player streaking through on goal and a one and one chance, a chance that would go begging though as Tynny keeper Callum Coleman stood strong producing a solid save to keep the scores level.

Airport would soon be in front though when a quickly taken freekick caught the Tynny out and a sweetly struck volley made it 0-1.

With only a minute or so before the break Tynny drew level when some mesmerising footwork from Lewis Union just outside the corner flag flummoxed his marker and the resulting cross being headed in by Ollie Cooke at the back post to bring the sides level at the half.

Tynny started the 2nd half much the better and were soon in front when a cross field pass from Jodie Shepherd, released Mark McCarthy down the right wing and his low drilled cross was met by Craig Rattenbury stealing in at the front post who blasted the ball into the back of the net.

That move proved to be the highlight of the half and game as Tynny sat back and defended their lead with their experienced back line restricting the Airport to only half chances at best in their hopes of grabbing a draw.

Man of the match went to Ollie Cooke for his N'Golo Kante like display in the middle of the park and his equalising goal.
