ARCHIE Gray is a 10-year-old junior member of the Dinas Powys Lawn Tennis Club, who has been dominating his age group for the last few years.

He has represented the club in Junior League matches since the age of five, and more recently is regularly found travelling around South Wales, playing for not only his age group, but representing the older teams for the club, often in the same day.

He lives and breathes tennis!

He can be found training hard most days at the club with his coach, Rob Walbyoff, as well as travelling every week to both Swansea and Bath to train with Performance and Regional squads.

Archie has already represented both South Wales, and Wales in Regional and County team events.

He has won three Welsh National Junior titles in different age groups; a British National Boys doubles title at 10&U; and regularly wins tournaments across the UK in age groups above his own.

His appetite for tennis knows no bounds.

His most recent triumph came at the Winter Regional Tour event at Bath University on 4th November which gained him automatic qualification to the UK Nationals 10&U event being held in Norfolk in December.

Archie leaves no stone unturned in his preparation, as extra hours are found to hit just a few more balls!

Archie’s hard work has also not gone unnoticed by the Lawn Tennis Association, as he has recently been selected to join their UK National Player Pathway Training Programme which will allow him to train with the best players across the UK up to the age of 14.

From everyone up at DPLTC, well done Archie!

Your determination, your dedication to your sport and your commitment will bring many more tennis awards over the forthcoming years we are sure.
