Vale of Glamorgan Football League round-up

DIVISION One took the spotlight with only one game in the premier division due to SWFA Cup involvement and only two games division two for no particular reason.

Holton Road continued to steamroller through the division as they rack up win after win, this week saw a repeat fixture from the previous weekend against Tynewydd, only this time it was a much tighter affair than the six goal difference previously with the league leaders edging out competitive Tynny 2-1. Cardiff Airport dropper a place to third as they were beaten 3-2 at home by Cadoxton Barry, while Cadoxton Imps climbed to second with a 2-0 victory over Cogan, an unbeaten league run that stretches back nearly two months.

Meanwhile Cwm Talwg made it two wins on the spin as they routed SP Billy 5-0 to leave the Billy marooned at the foot of the table.

Holton Road currently sit 16 points clear at the top of Division One but only four points separate second and sixth.

In the Premier Division, Cowbridge Town secured their fourth league win in a row as they piled the misery on St Athan with a 4-1 victory, that’s five league defeats on the bounce for last years runners up St Athan.

In Division Two, league leaders St Athan B remain top of the league despite a 3-1 loss to Penarth Town B, the result brings an end to St Athan B’s six game winning streak, Penarth B now going four league games unbeaten.

In the SWFA Cup Rhoose advanced with a 1-0 win over Pantyscallog Village and Island Marine bowed out after a thrilling 5-4 defeat to Pentywn.

Barry Athletic trip to Penrhiwfer was abandoned after 10 minutes due to a Penrhiwfer injury.

Next week sees only a handful of games being played with Cadoxton Imps hosting the juggernaut of Holton Road the stand out game of the day.
