WITH last week being the final “real” competition of the season Sunday saw Brynhill revert back to Winter Competitions.

Best on the day was 43 points from Ritchie Mason and Gary Ball, 3 better than Peter Phillips and Julian Hopkins, who squeezed Mike Fairhurst and Tony Paloney Thomas into third on a back nine countback.

On Saturday evening the club hosted its annual Black Tie Presentation Night, with champagne corks already popping at 7 o’clock and bar stewardess Kath manning a pop up cocktail bar, a “lively” night looked on the cards and so it turned out.

It is tradition for competition winners to fill the cup they won, with the beverage of their choice, then pass it round to the assembled masses, this could go some way to explaining the rather sparse turnout for the following days Winter competition.

This year’s Major Championship winners were club champion Scotty Bowman who defeated Lee Price in the final, sweet revenge as Lee was the guy who turned Scott over in the Ernest Williams final.

In the Wick Williams Mitchel Taylor Moore saw off gallant Glaswegian Alan Sweeny and further rubbed salt in the wound by beating him again in the Howell Hughes Final 8 days later.

Public sector paper shuffler Glyn Coles won the Buck Rabbit easing out Luke Pearson in the final while Matt Lundrigan claimed the Morgan Williams Cup (gross) and Lewis Millar the Dai Rees Cup (gross).

The Captain's Prize was won by Peter Incledon with Scott Warne taking the best gross.
