Vale of Glamorgan Football League round up

IT was a good weekend for Barry Athletic at the top and they didn't even play, as their nearest rivals both slipped up.

Penarth Town came crashing back to earth after thumping the leaders last week as they were beaten 4-0 at home by Island Marine. Marine securing their second successive 4 goal victory to stun Penarth. Rhoose also succumbed to defeat as Cowbridge Town continued their great run of form edging Rhoose out 2-1. In the battle of the basement Sully Sports won out 2-1 over St Athan, Sully's first win since August.

In Division One, Cwm Talwg picked up a big 4-2 win over Cadoxton Barry while Cadoxton Imps demolished SP Billy 7-1.

In Division Two, St Athan B extended their lead at the top with a 2-1 victory over Vale Madrid, that's the leaders sixth win in a row now. Rivals Rhoose B did not play while Cadoxton Athletic slipped up to a 3-1 defeat to Barry Athletic B. Penarth Town B moved up to third with a huge 6-1 away win at Island Marine B.

In the SWFA Intermediate Cup, a competition open to South Wales teams from below their local leagues top division, Holton Road and Tynewydd are representing the Vale league admirably as both sides reached the semi finals this weekend. Holton Road eased past Pontypridd FC 4-1 while Tynewydd saw off Gadlys Rovers 2-1.

Next week it's Barry Cup quarter finals, with Cowbridge playing Cardiff Airport, Rhoose hosting Cogan, Penarth welcoming Cadoxton Imps and a Cadoxton derby as Cadoxton Athletic play Cadoxton Barry.
