BARRY Beavers became Welsh champions for the second year in succession when they attend the annual Welsh National Astra 15 Gala for disabled swimmers.
Held in Ebbw Vale, the Beavers entered a team of 25 swimmers, coached by Patricia Finch and Linda Savory.
They won a total of eight gold individual medals and also the junior relay team won gold, the gala team won many other medals in silver and bronze category too.
This led to Barry Beavers winning the Welsh championship gala by a big margin of over 20 points from their nearest rivals.
The eight gold medalist and the four members of the junior gala team will now go on to represent Wales at the UK National gala to be held in Seven Oaks, Kent on Saturday 20th October.
The gold medallists were: Keira Dyne, Abigail Finch, Callum Savory, Heather Williams, Ffion Jones, Aidan Thompson, Nicholas Cushen and Jack Kemp.
This is a great achievement for the club and shows how much improved the swimmers of Barry Beavers
have become in recent years.
The club is always looking to welcome new members of all ages and disabilities and has qualified
Halliwick Instructors in Swimming Therapy using Halliwick Techniques, and also volunteer helpers, who are always needed, with full training through the club available.
Please look out for future reports on how the members get on in Kent.
Any support the club receives is always very much appreciated.
