Barry Town United are out of this season's Nathaniel MG Cup, beaten on penalties by Cambrian and Clydach after a 0-0 stalemate in the Rhondda.

Long-serving Barry goalkeeper Dan Bradley would be the hero for the home side, saving spot kicks from both Luke Cooper and Jonathan Hood, while Curtis Watkins sent his own attempt high into the night sky.

Bradley, who kept over 100 clean sheets across his 11-year stint at Jenner Park, now also has the accolade of shutting out his former team, having made key saves from Hood and Tom Fry over the course of Tuesday night's match.

The result means there will be no repeat of the 2016-17 campaign, when a run started at Cambrian carried the Town right the way to the January final.

Elsewhere in the competition, Barry boy James Dixon made an impactful return to action by scoring in Penybont's 3-1 win over Ton Pentre.

Striker Dixon, who recently signed a contract with Barry, is newly on loan with the Bridgend side as part of his recovery from a long-term injury lay-off.

In total, four of the 12 JD Welsh Premier League clubs would fall at the first hurdle, with Caernarfon Town, Llanelli Town and Cefn Druids also eliminated.
