ALL the hard work by the green keeping staff paid dividends with the course looking magnificent, as Brynhill held its annual Men’s Finals Day on Saturday, with all three categories of the Club Championship being contested.

Chief Buck Rabbit for the hackers and choppers, Howell Hughes for the keen but doomed to mediocrity and of course the Club Championship itself for proper golfers.

The Buck was won by self-confessed public sector parasite Glyn Coles, who edged out new member Luke Pearson. The Howell Hughes/midway saw complete banger Mitchell Taylor-Moore defeat Alan Sweeny in a major final, for the second time in 8 days.

Sweeny is now available for bridesmaid duties and can supply his own dress if required.

While in the Championship the irrepressible Scott Bowman became Club Champion for the 9th time squeezing out the ever game Lee Price over two rounds.

Some great golf was played by all of those competing and as you’d expect at Brynhill all the matches were played in a fantastic spirit.

In the George Williams Final Stephen Hopkins defeated Peter Incledon.

On Wednesday Brynhill Wayfarers welcomed St Mary’s GC to the Barry Course, beating them comprehensively four and a half to a half and leaving themselves a target of just one and a half points from their final league match of the season, away to Tredegar Park, to secure the title.

This Wednesday sees a very strong Cardiff GC visit for the quarter final of the Wayfarers Cup, a massive challenge for the Barry Boys but one they’re bang up for.

This weekend we again revert to a split field stapleford with the swingers battling for the Harry Cocks while the mingers fight it out for the Porth Cup.

As always at Brynhill Golf will be the real winner.
