JAMES Spear is the Dinas Powis Golf Club champion for 2018.
He defeated Andy Palmer over 36 holes in difficult conditions to claim his first title.
The 6 handicapper was elated with his victory and will want to add more trophies to his cabinet in the future.
The second division was won by Rob Hathway who overcame the valiant efforts of Neil “Nipper” Clark in a gripping final.
Dave Rutter took the 2nd Division title beating Dave Young .
Once again the club would like to thank the referees of the matches which were all effected by inclement weather at times.
In other club competitions Paul “Floppy” Evans shot an impressive Net 64 to win the Sir Joseph Davies Cup .
With a few other scores including John Lomasney who carded a net 65 in the clubhouse, the 16 handicapper Evans managed a birdie on the 18th which was to be crucial to his victory.
Huw Reynolds won the Col Gore + & - completion with a +5 score.
The former captain playing off 26 was delighted with his first trophy.
Four handicapper Ian Barclay pushed him all the way with a brilliant +4 round.
This weekend the Slade Cup will be played for as we enter the autumn.
