BARRY’S Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Morgannwg Year 7 and 8 girl's football team are Welsh champions.
The Welsh Cup final was held in Oswestry on the weekend and Bro Morgannwg won in a 1- 0 game against Ysgol Glan Clwyd.
Both teams played well, however, a goal from Bro Morgannwg's captain, Gwenno Goode, secured the victory.
The competition started in September and they reached the final with the following wins: Mary Immaculate 8-1, Cardiff High 5-1, Glantaf 1-0, Tonyrefail 2-1, Idris Davies 6-0 and Newbridge 8-2.
The team's coach Bethan Price is proud of the captain Gwenno and the dedicated and enthusiastic girls that are part of the team.
The girls regularly attend school football sessions and are committed to many other extra-curricular clubs in the PE department.
Since the beginning of September, they have developed into an organized and high achieving team.
Many congratulations!
