BRYNHILL finally shed its winter coat this week and reminded us all what a magnificent beast she is.
The Qualifier for the Bristol Cup, knockout pairs competition, saw the course playing to almost its maximum yardage, a brisk North Easterly blowing up the 1st meant it wasn’t a day for the faint-hearted.
Top 16 pairs went through to the Knock Out stages and top of the pile was Taylor Moore and Palmer with a superb 63 (9under) with 2 pairs on 64 and 2 more 1 further back on 65.
It’s going to be a busy week for the Handicap Sec, with the inevitable general play slashings that will surely follow.
This week also saw the culmination of the Winter League, a competition that epitomises the old marathon not a sprint maxim.
The form book went out the window with this one, as the Anstee/ Mills pairing saw off father and son duo Kevin and Dan Williams 3 and 2 in the final.
A big thank you to all who supported the Winter League and we’ll see you all next year.
