A BRIGHT start saw Cadoxton Barry with two early shots at goal.

Curran chested a ball down to set Ingram up with a shot that went only just wide. And then it was Curran to the rescue as he headed clear a dangerous looking cross at the far post.

CB 'keeper, Stringer was then called upon to block a goal bound shot. As the game progressed, so the Trebanog pressure built up, an angled header from a corner whizzing wide by only a whisker.

But CB did have their moments as when a Curran header found Ingram to set Adamson up in a 50/50 with the 'keeper, but Adamson was ruled to have fouled.

Then, following a home attack, a bout of unconvincing headed attempts at clearing saw the ball land in unguarded space some 15 yards out before it was driven firmly into the Cadoxton Barry net just short of the half hour mark.

Cadoxton Barry attacked straight from the re-start to win a corner on the left side.

Townsend whipped over an excellent curler that nestled in the far right corner of the Trebanog net without any outfield player getting anywhere near it.

This lifted CB and things became far more even for a spell before another Trebanog attack could have ended CB's chances of getting anything from this game.

Blackie had been carrying an injury which had seriously limited his mobility but he had stayed on the field whilst tactics for his replacement were discussed.

The ball came towards the semi mobile Blackie whilst calls went out to Stringer to gather. He hesitated and by the time he reacted, his only option was to foul on the edge of the box.

However, Stringer redeemed himself with a top drawer penalty save with his trailing leg as he dived in the opposite direction to the track of the ball.

This was crucial as it kept CB in the match.

But it wasn't long before CB were behind once again as a further communication breakdown saw Trebanog strike home with a low shot from the middle right of the box.

Jim Craig, normally the second team 'keeper, came on as an outfield player to replace the injured Blackie.

Following this CB had to withstand a number of frantic spells of defending before they regained their shape and began to seriously look capable of getting a second equalizer.

And with just two minutes left on the clock a CB corner set up a session of pinball near the far left Trebanog post.

And on the third attempt the ball squirmed out of the scramble and into the net from the boot of none other than Craig.

There were sighs of relief before CB went hunting for a winner as great play from Ingram down the left saw his shot marginally off side.

But then, with literally only seconds left, Trebanog broke down the right where Weekley seemed to have control of things before the ball ballooned up off him with defenders seeming to have momentarily last sight of the ball.

And it came down invitingly in open space to allow a free shot that found the net just inside the right hand post and a whisker beyond the diving Stringer.

You can only sympathise with the players who had worked so hard for the draw that they thought they were going to get and to lose it just ten seconds before the whistle.
