FOLLOWING a second enforced winter break, the Vale of Glamorgan Football League returned this week with a handful of games.

St Athan returned to the top of the league with a 2-1 win over Island Marine, with Nathan Williams grabbing what turned out to be the winner. Rhoose went second thanks to Jordan Owen's decisive goal in their 1-0 victory over Penarth Town, while FC Barry Belgrade and Barry Athletic will be looking to capitalise on any slip-ups when they return to action. Belgrade now have four games in hand on the league leaders.

In Division One, table toppers Sully extended their lead at the top to ten points as they brushed aside Cadoxton Imps 6-2 to remain unbeaten. Cardiff Airport went second with a 5-2 away victory over Penarth Town B and SP Billy slipped to a home loss to Tynewydd. Cwm Talwg picked up their first league win since August as they edged out Cadoxton Athletic 3-2.

In the sole game in Division Two, leaders Llantwit Major squeezed out a 1-0 win over Rhoose B with Max Morgan notching. Llantwit now move eight points clear at the top, as their 100 per cent record continues.

Next week, the divisional cups take centre stage as clubs hope for a dry week.
