PREMIER Division leaders Barry Athletic suffered their second loss of the season last weekend, as AFC Rhoose opened up the title race with a 2-1 victory to move third in the table.

Barry Athletic now sit four points ahead of the chasing pack having played a game more than most sides and three more than FC Barry Belgrade, who held second place St Athan to a 1-1 draw in an entertaining encounter. Cowbridge Town stopped their run of bad results with a 3-3 draw against Penarth Town, to leave just two points separating second and sixth in a highly competitive league of seven sides.

In Division One, leaders Sully Sports showed their dominance as they thrashed in form Cadoxton Athletic 5-1 to move ten points clear of SP Billy in second, after they were beaten 3-1 at home to Cardiff Airport. Cogan secured their third league win in a row to go third as they squeezed past bottom side Cadoxton Imps 2-1, while Barry Saints moved fourth as they dispatched Cwm Talwg 3-1.

There are new league leaders in Division Two, as Cadoxton Barry turned on the style to cruise past BRT Dynamos 4-1, while elsewhere Vale Madrid crashed to a 2-0 defeat to AFC Rhoose B. Llantwit Major are steaming up the outside as they continued their 100 per cent start to the season with a 6-3 victory over Glenbrook to leave them six points off top with three games in hand. Finally, Island Marine B eased to a 3-0 win over indifferent BV.

Next week sees the return of the Barry Cup, with quarter-finals action taking place.
