IN the last of the Spartans warm up matches before facing the Wanderers in the Mike Ashton Memorial trophy this weekend, Sully Cricket Club played a 12 aside friendly against Barry with both sides giving everyone a game.
Losing the toss, skipper Nigel Crick side was put into bat and from the start precise bowling kept the Spartans total down. At 42 for four with 30 coming from Vishal the home side looked in trouble.
Morgan and Trinath (11) started to repair the damage before the latter was out clean bowled with the score now at 87 for five. Three quick wickets left the Spartans at 89 for eight.
Sathish (17) joined Morgan and just as it looked like a decent score would be built the former was again cleaned bowled leaving the score at 125 for nine. Morgan remaining 40 not out pushed the score along with Hickin and a below par final total of 140 was going to be difficult to defend.
In response only Vishal six overs two for 17, Morgan four overs one for five and Krishna six overs one for 17 kept the away side under control as they won this good spirited game with nine overs to spare.
Sully Cricket Club 140 for 9
Morgan 40 not out
Vishal 30
Barry WE 143 for 6
Vishal 2 for 23
Morgan 1 for 5
