DINAS Powys Common is the home of Dinas Powys Athletic Club and Dinas Powys Cricket Club. It is enjoyed by countless people, but abused by a thoughtless few.

Once again we have been made aware of horse riders galloping across the common in a dangerous fashion. Two large notices have been placed by the Community Council, one at the Southra end and one at the junction of the Westra and St Andrew’s Road, asking riders to please keep to the perimeter of the common.

The mature gentleman who galloped across the common at absolutely maximum speed starting from near the rugby posts and finishing at the bottom corner near the church entrance off Mount Road, did so on June 4 at about 3.20pm when there were many children playing, people walking and dogs being exercised.

He, accompanied by two young ladies, has been photographed and it is hoped to identify him.

Many people now carry mobile phones which have integral cameras. We would be grateful if when people see the common being misused in any way, that they could photograph the miscreant and send a copy to the Clerk@theCommunity Council.org Dinas Powys Community Council Via e-mail
