I WOULD like to thank all those people who attended the recent ‘Barry and the Second World War’ exhibition at Art Central.

Hundreds of visitors passed through over the two-week period and it was a pleasure to talk to local people about their memories of the period.

The comments left in the two visitors’ books were most supportive and have encouraged me to suggest to the local authority that other exhibitions on a similar theme could be held in the future. Perhaps ‘Barry and the First World War’ next autumn?

I would also draw readers’ attention to the exhibition being staged in the town library by the Barry branch of the Merchant Navy Association and their campaign for a permanent setting for all the material relating to the history of Barry.

Please sign their petition for a museum!

In the meantime, if any readers have any items, photographs or stories that they would like included in my future exhibitions on Barry’s role in the two world wars of the last century, I can be contacted on 07708 255295 or by e-mail at: ninian27@btinternet.com
