CHRISTMAS Eve on Barry Harbour
A shower has thankfully ended
And menacing clouds retreat to the horizon.
The sun makes a rare appearance
Filling the full-tide sea with sparkling silver
As waves crash into Friars and Nell's Point
For the Channel is wild and restless today
But for once the sky is not painted grey
And a deep azure entrances my gaze
As a family stroll, their child
Skipping excitedly with thoughts of Christmas morn.
Wrecked boats bobble in the strong wind
The sea and breeze roar in unison.
Tomorrow clouds will return, grey as the harbour walls
But the sky is blue, I watch seagulls glide
And now it's a pleasure to be outside.
