I AM all for progress, and reusing brown field land seemingly on the western part of Barry docks looks on the surface a good idea.

But the beginning of a Barry nightmare for traffic congestion has only just begun.

The road from Barry Island to the mainland at the best of times, being the only road off the island for users is already fraught with great delays.

It was believed that the new road across the old Brown field land at the Western Barry Docks would have relieved the pressure, that would have definitely been the case.

But now that same 'new road' will be very heavily congested, and parking a new nightmare for residents and holiday makers alike, due to the new houses just about to be completed and the new Asda already up and running.

The road that leads into Broad Street under the tunnel from this new building site is already heavily congested with users heading too and fro from Asda, the nightmare will unfold when the new houses are occupied and the new road being opened with holiday makers travelling to and from Barry Island.

Watch this space.
