I'M contacting the Barry & District News following the closure of the Windsor in Holton Road.
Yes it was down to close its doors - on January 5, 2015 - but actually the last trading day was New Years Day on December 31, 2014 - closed early without giving a thought for the people who have used it as their local all their adult life.
Ok it was a pub with a rough edge, but it was a real pub, not an eating venue.
It had character and atmosphere; you can't say that about the modern public houses.
But over the last 10 years, not just in Barry but everywhere, all traditional pubs are on their way out.
Breweries don't want the cost of pubs today they just want to sell the beer, and the way the Windsor was allowed to go is terrible.
Let’s hope some company or business man or woman, will buy the building and save it from becoming flats.
I have only been going there the last 14 years but there's Barrians who remember the pub in its heyday, whether they still live in Barry or have moved away.
