I WAS interested to read in the local press how the senior officers of the Vale of Glamorgan Council authorised £53,000 to be spent on new fancy leather chairs for us council members.
An officer who is yet still to be identified to all members, apparently went out and purchased 70 new chairs off his own back without asking all of us if we thought this was a good idea.
Well, here is one councillor who thinks the chairs were a waste of money and unfit for purpose.
The chairs are in my opinion uncomfortable and too tall which now blocks the view of councillors in the chamber making it difficult to see others speak, vote and ask to speak.
For this amount to be spent on furniture approval should have been sought prior to the purchase. The officer responsible for this purchase in my opinion should now be taken to task over this waste of money.
And on a final note, the leader reckons he consulted with members who have a bad back – well here is one member who has a chronic bad and he certainly did not consult with me.
