IN response to the letter titled Car Park in the Square? (Barry & District News, January 10).
The biggest culprits when it comes to parking on the Square are council staff themselves and, in the lead-up to Christmas, even the police were parking there.
It is so easy to stop this practice of cars in the pedestrian area; just put the bollards back at the access points. I have mentioned this at many PACT meetings but neither the police nor my councillors seem to deem this matter of any importance.
Sunday parking in Holton Road is another issue, with cars indiscriminately parking on and damaging the pavement opposite King Square. Pedestrians, especially mothers with pushchairs, are forced to walk in the road. It is only a matter of time before an accident occurs or someone, possibly elderly or unsteady on their feet, trips and falls on the now-broken pavement.
