BARRY'S Rahil Indian Restaurant has been highly commended in the final of the prestigious Tiffin Cup competition. The restaurant was chosen to represent the Vale of Glamorgan by Alun Cairns MP in the prestigious Lyca Tiffin Cup 2011 competition.

The UK-wide competition is held each year to find the best South Asian restaurant in the country. This year 60 restaurants were nominated, with 11 Welsh restaurants included in the list.

The Rahil in Barry, having secured a place in the regional final, battled with other restaurants from Wales to become one of the national finalists in the Lyca Tiffin Cup Grand Final. Though not securing the top spot, they were highly commended.

The Vale MP visited The Rahil to present the restaurant manager, chef and team with a Tiffin Cup chef’s tunic and a certificate in recognition of their achievement.

Alun Cairns said: “I am delighted that The Rahil on Holton Road was highly commended. It is such a prestigious competition, and the commendation is a real accolade. “The judges were very complimentary about The Rahil, from the welcome they extend to diners, to the choice and range of dishes, and of course to the presentation and taste of the food.

“The Tiffin Cup also raises money for charity, and this year the funds will go to the worthwhile ‘World Vision’ campaign.”
