YOUNG netball players in the Vale of Glamorgan are set to benefit from the expertise of a new coach.

The Barry Dragon Sport Netball Club has been able to take on new mentor Mel Duncan, thanks to cash secured through the Community Chest Grant awards scheme.

The funding - which is made available to schemes promoting sport and fitness across Wales - was accessed with the help of the Vale of Glamorgan Council's Sports Development Unit.

Mel, who previously worked as a netball coach in St Athan, brings the number of coaches at the Barry club to three, and will play a crucial role in developing and improving its services.

Young players are already benefiting from Mel's knowledge and experience and are learning new techniques.

Barry Dragon Sport Netball Club is based at the town's Colcot Sports Centre and is aimed at children aged between seven and 11, operating every Monday between 5pm and 6pm.
