PORT TALBOT 2, BARRY TOWN 3

BARRY TOWN won 3-2 away to Port Talbot last Friday evening to take their unbeaten run to 12 games.

The Dragons are now 10 points clear of Bangor and TNS, who can reduce this deficit if they win their midweek games.

Barry had another dogfight on their hands and they had to scrap again for the points with little of the proverbial rub of the green going their way.

Man of the match was Tom Ramasut whose silky ball skills ran the Port Talbot defence ragged in the second half. His goal, and two by Mike Flynn, saw Barry home to victory.

Kenny Brown had Simon Rayner unfit and so Richard Johnson deputised. Lee Jarman came in for Lee Phillips and had an excellent game, with Kenny Brown again leaving himself out.

Barry dominated the first half, but as Haverfordwest did, Port Talbot came out in the second half to fight as if it were a cup final.

Tom Ramasut, who had a quiet first period, won the game almost single handedly, with his incredible ability to keep the ball and twist and turn past defenders.

The game started in reasonable conditions despite the heavy rain and Jamie Moralee put Nicky Burke through after only four minutes, but he hit the ball high.

Andrew Yorke, playing with a skull cap to protect his injured ear, was playing like a rock in the heart of the defence. He also enjoyed running the ball out of defence to earn a corner.

Richard Johnson set Barry on the way to a 1-0 lead after 15 minutes, and Nicky Burke went down the right before flicking the ball into the path of Mike Flynn who netted from close range.

Port Talbot were not really bothering Barry, but despite creating further chances Town were held to 1-0 at half time.

On the hour Andrew York let rip with a 30 yarder just past the post. Mike Flynn glanced a header just wide from a Gary Lloyd free kick and then the home side hit back. Slack defending allowed Danny Bartley an equaliser on 67 minutes.

It took just five minutes for Ramasut to go on a great run and score a fine, individual goal to make it 2-1, much to the delight of the large Barry contingent.

The home defence were powerless to stop him and again he burst into the box to provide Flynn with his second goal on 87 minutes.

Port Talbot scored a consolation goal in injury time but it was too late, and Barry had grafted out another hard-earned victory.

Barry have powered to the top of the table with only 9 points dropped in the last 20 league games, recording 16 wins, 3 draws and 1 defeat - a formidable record by any standard.
