WITH regard to Barry Open Air Swimming Pool, I, like many other residents of Barry as well as the surrounding area including the Valleys, would love to see the Lido back to its former glory, as promised by the Barry Council.

When £22 million can be found to build the Welsh Assembly building, which does not even have full control of Wales, the lack of funds for a local cause seems outrageous.

We need a local pool. The Lido was a source of enjoyment for many generations of visitors. We have lost the use of the pool at the Cardiff Empire pool which is not to be replaced. We have lost other leisure facilities at the former Butlins Camp and Bindles. It is time to start rebuilding for the people of Barry who deserve leisure facilities as a standard not as an afterthought.

Barry Council appear to be taking every opportunity to diminish these facilities and perhaps it is time that the councillors gave some thought to the people whom they are supposed to serve.
