Broadcasting on the Home Service programme in the "Let's Consider" series, on Monday evening, Ald Tom Yeoman, Barry, spoke on behalf of the primary school teachers.

County Ald Mrs Dorothy M Rees, former MP for the Barry Division, was adopted as prospective candidate by the Barry Divisional Labour Party at the meeting in Cardiff last week.

Mr J Ll Davies, retired Borough Engineer, gave a talk on "The Town of Barry, Past, Present and Future" to members of the Suburb No 3 Branch of the Old Age Pensioners on Monday.

No 3614 Fighter Control Unit of the Royal Auxiliary Air Force, which contains four Barry personnel, held their summer camp this year in Germany.

Sunday School anniversary services were held on Sunday at Holton Road Baptist Church, when there were good congregations at all three services.

Bus driver, Trevor H Jones, Whitmore Garage, Barry Island, has been recommended by Barry Road Safety Committee for the award of Knight of the Road in the scheme sponsored by the "News of the World."

Barry's Silver Jubilee celebrations went on happily and without any unfortunate accidents or incidents. Street parties went with a swing on Monday and Tuesday.

Police have advised farmers in the Vale of Glamorgan to start counting their sheep stocks following an incident of sheep stealing at Llantwit Major during the past couple of weeks.

A £100,000 plus housing development at Rectory Road, Barry will convert a local eyesore and target for vandals into a modern block of old people's flats within the next 18 months.

The boys from Barry Boys' Comprehensive School were presented with the Urdd Eisteddfod's Art and Craft Trophy in the junior section on Tuesday.

The members of the Cadoxton Darby and Joan Club were entertained by the Moors' Ladies Club, led by Mrs Gerald Fitzgerald, their pianist, on Tuesday week.

The winning of a £ 5.2m, contract for Conder (Exports) Ltd, will provide extra export business for Barry Docks.
