BARRY'S talented 'pop rival' Jamie Shaw is determined to make 2004 his year.

The former One True Voice band member, who lives in the Pencoedtre Village, has spoken of the new resolve he has found to claw back his career, which flagged after the manufactured harmony group split.

Speaking to the News , he revealed he has big ideas to make it as a star, but says this time it will be on his 'own terms.'

Eighteen-year old Jamie said: "I want people to see that I have something to offer, and I am sure I can make a success of my career."

With plans on the cards to make a documentary about his rollercoaster journey from the cute young 13-year-old who appeared on the Michael Barrimore show to the giddy heights of winning Popstars, Jamie's sense of humour prevails.

He joked: "On my New Year's list I have resolved to produce a fly-on-the-wall documentary about myself, called the Rise and Fall and Rise and Fall of Jamie Shaw."

The documentary would track Jamie's next stab at the charts.

He added: "On a serious note, I have already been in a recording studio in Penarth with former West End star Steve Balsamo. We met at the Welsh Awards and did a gig together at St David's Hall to raise money for Llandough Hospital cancer unit. Now he's helping write some new material. I have written before, but I didn't get chance when I was in One True Voice, and I have never done it professionally.

"But he's been great. The other day, he started playing the guitar and I started singing along to it. I thought it was going to be hard, but it just seemed so natural."
