A BARRY ladies skittles team, whose oldest member is 91, are furious after being thrown out of their local pub.

The Colcot Ladies say they were asked to leave the King William IV pub in Bridge Street, Cadoxton, after a row with staff member Bob Morgan.

The team were due to play a fixture in the Barry and District League against the Merrymakers when the incident happened.

Team member Linda Waite, 41, said: "We were sat in the alley waiting for the rest of the other team to turn up when a member of staff came in, turned the lights out and told us to leave without any explanation.

"The worst thing about it was the foul language that was used. It really was shocking. At 41 I am one of the younger members of the team. Doris Hill our oldest member is 91 and most of the team are well into their fifties. It was a very upsetting experience.

"There is no way we shall ever be going back to the King William to play our matches. We are now using the Wyndham."

The Colcot Ladies Skittles Team had played their home matches at the King William for the past 16 years.

Another team member, Dawn Dance, said: "We just didn't know what was going on. We just stood there in disbelief at the language he was using."

Linda Waite added: "I have spoken to Enterprise Inns, owners of the pub, to ask for a written apology.

"We will also be bringing the matter up at the next league committee meeting."

Mr Morgan and licencee Susan Neale were unavailable for comment.
