I WALK my dog every morning up the Buttrills football fields in Barry and was appalled to find the gate locked leading to the fields behind the main one.

On asking the many people who walk their dogs here every day why this was, I was told it was because of anti-social behaviour by youths.

While I understand the problem, I don't see that this is justified in the early morning - lock the gates at night but surely someone from the council or cemetery workers could unlock this early in the morning?

While I am a pooper scooper I would rather pick up after my dog on wasteland than football fields.

I have walked these footpaths for years and on speaking to people I meet every morning they too feel the same way.

I have now seen an increase in dogs' mess at the Buttrills fields - my grandson plays here every weekend and we have to clean the pitch first.

I am getting on and miss my walks - the government have taken the initiative in getting us active and our council takes it away.

This is why these teenagers are being given ASBOs willy nilly because there is nothing for them to do.

When we were kids we had numerous youth clubs, every weekend a disco in the Rugby Club, boys school, Memorial Hall, Bindles and the Butts Community Centre.

These kids have one Vibe disco once a month. One drop in centre 'Area 41'.

No older youth clubs; nowhere to congregate. I've got three grandchildren and I know how much it costs to send them to pictures, swimming etc.

We are all being penalised!

Get the kids off the streets find something for the 14-17 year olds, youth clubs karaoke nights, discos etc.

Come on council, you can't spite everyone.

I too have had my share of youth annoyance. Get some youth workers on your council, they'll explain what we need, we need some young blood!

We also need our right of way which you have spitefully denied us!
