POLICE Community Support Officers from the Castleland ward in Barry were on hand at Holton Primary School to give important summer holiday safety advice to the children before they left for their school summer holidays.

Key messages from the Castleland Team focussed on the dangers of ‘tombstoning’ or jumping into the docks, misuse of the lifebelts on the waterfront and the dangers of playing near the railway tracks.

PCSO Alex Mackay said: “Making children aware of the severe risks they are taking when playing in these dangerous places will hopefully persuade them not to visit these areas.

“We will be patrolling Castleland regularly throughout the summer and I would remind all children that they can come and speak to PCSO Hayley Warren or me if they have any questions or need any advice during the school holidays.”
