A TOWN childminder celebrated their first year in business and raised £98 for charity in the process.

Casey's Cubs Flexible Childcare is considered a lifeline to parents and owner Samantha Austin a lifesaver in supporting parents with their childcare.

Ms Austin’s anniversary celebration was described as a huge success with 56 people turning up including Barry Town councillor, Plaid’s Dennis Clarke who represents the Buttrills ward.

The event served not only to celebrate, but also to encourage family participation in the children's environment.

A whole host of activities were on the day's agenda, including face painting and a buffet complete with a celebration cake.

Tea and coffee were readily available, with special requests taken on board to ensure attendees' preferences are met.

With a clear emphasis on family, community and giving back, the event reflected not just the past year of Casey's Cubs, but what it intends to continue to offer in the future.
