WHEN media reports on shop closures there is usually a heavy sigh of disappointment that another high street store has bitten the dust, however in the case of this Barry shop, the closure is announced with a positive message.
Cocoa Therapy at 95 High Street has closed its doors with the owners announcing they would be providing no more chocolate relief for the area after the weekend of May 18.
While it is always sad to hear about a shop closing, the owners of Cocoa Therapy say their final day wasn’t a sad day. Instead it was described as a ‘wonderful day’.
On their Facebook page, Cocoa Therapy wrote: “Ahhhh man, where do I even start? Thank you is probably a good place.
“Yesterday (May 18) was just a wonderful final day for the shop, for me, for the business and there are too many people to thank for this one little caption here.
“I am beyond grateful for the past six years, the amazing opportunities, travel and learning, a space to show my children that you get what you work for, incredible people and a LOT of fun creating beautiful, delicious bites.
“This isn’t a sad post, I’m happy to be able to wrap up the shop with the love and respect intact, content that I made it work for a duration and now it’s time to move on. Thank you.”
As always, with a Barry high street store closing, there was a huge outpouring of love for the services previously provided.
In this case, messages included Kyle Thomas writing: “Soooo proud of you and all of your little pockets of happiness you created. Now, let's all sit back in anticipation of what our beautiful bestie will do next.”
Katie Nash wrote: “We will miss you and the amazing chocolates there is none better or more original in my view.”
And Fiona Noble wrote: “Best of luck for the next adventure my friend.”

The peaks and troughs of Barry’s high street fortunes
There’s never a dull moment on Barry high street.
Only last month, the Island lost two shops one next to the other when Cadwaladers and Black Tab Motorcycle apparel both announced they were closing their stores.
Then, one of Barry’s main shopping districts Holton Road was closed for half a day due to a fire in the abandoned building above the old Burtons store.
But, it was no all doom and gloom, with innovative new pizzeria Front Room recently opening in Barry taking the site of the old Alium restaurant.
Whatever next…?
