A VALE of Glamorgan team were celebrated for their support for staff during the cost of living crisis.
The Ty Robin Goch short breaks service, a part of Action for Children, was among the finalists at this year's Social Care Wales Accolades.
They gained recognition in the 'Looking after and improving workplace well-being' category for their continued effort to support staff members' wellbeing.
Based in Barry, the service introduced innovative solutions, like a monthly restocked pantry stocked with essentials available to staff two weeks before payday.
They also introduced a 'staff member of the month' scheme that allows staff to nominate colleagues anonymously, with the winner receiving a voucher.
Ty Robin Goch's registered manager, Laura Mason, expressed her delight at the recognition.
She said: "I’m exceptionally proud of Ty Robin Goch being highly commended in the 'Looking after and improving workplace well-being' category.
"We caught on that some staff were struggling with the cost-of-living crisis and opted to wanted to provide practical support alongside the support networks and schemes staff are directed to."
She continued: "To be recognised by Social Care Wales in this way is wonderful and underlines the great effort we go to, to support each other in the service.
"It was lovely to celebrate together at the ceremony in Cardiff."
Sandra White, operational director for Action for Children in Wales, expressed her enthusiasm about the accolade.
She said: "I want to say a massive well done to the team for the Social Care Accolade Awards and being highly commended.
"The event was amazing and I was so proud to be part of the team who attended the ceremony.
"The additional schemes they have put in place have made a huge difference to staff during what remains a very challenging time for our staff and richly deserve this commendation from Social Care Wales."
More than 90 projects and care workers across Wales were nominated for the awards, which was narrowed down to an 18-strong shortlist by an established panel of judges.
Winners were declared at Cardiff's Mercure Holland House hotel last month.
