The mayor of Barry has been celebrating carers in the town.
Councillor Ian Johnson visited Bellavista Nursing Home during their staff appreciation week.
With more than 30 residents, the Tynewydd Road facility was recently commended in an inspection by Care Inspectorate Wales.
The report, delivered earlier this month, followed a February inspection which found residents "live in a pleasant, clean environment which is suitable for their needs.
"Activities and support in accordance with people’s interests and wishes are conducted daily."
Councillor Johnson praised the staff's endeavours stating: "I was really pleased to spend time at Bellavista Nursing Home as part of their staff appreciation week.
"It was a great opportunity to speak with staff at Bellavista about the care and support that they give the residents who live there.
"The afternoon gave me a better understanding of how a care home operates, and the importance of all of the different roles, from reception at the ‘front door’, the staff who provide care, those who put on activities for the residents, oversee the catering and the on-site maintenance.
"Social care is an important part of our community and society and it is important to recognise the efforts and hard work that staff put in to make that successful."
