A MAN was chased by four men before falling to the ground and being stamped on at a train station in the Vale.

The victim suffered memory loss, bruising and swelling to his head

The incident happened at Cadoxton Railway Station in the early part of March and now British Transport Police has launched an investigation.

A spokesperson said: "British Transport Police is appealing for information following an assault at Cadoxton Railway Station.

"At 9pm on Monday, March 11, four men attacked a man in his thirties, chasing him off the train from Cardiff.

"They have chased him over the footbridge where he has fallen to the ground and they have continued to kick and stamp on him. 

"A member of the public has intervened and they started threatening him before eventually leaving the station.

"The victim suffered memory loss, bruising and swelling to his head.

"Officers are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, due to it being a busy train and lots of people at the station. 

"Anyone with information is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016, or by calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference number 688 of 11 March.

"Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
