A REIGN of theft at a Sainsbury’s in Barry seems to be over.
Sainsbury’s on Park Crescent was hit ten times in a two-month period between December 2023, and February 2024.
Darren Hyde, of Parkland Walk in Barry, was sentenced for a total of 15 charges of theft at Cardiff Magistrates Court on March 19 having submitted guilty pleas in three sperate hearings on January 4, January 15 and February 19.
Hyde, 39, also stole from the One Stop Shop on Barry’s Broad Street.
Among the items stolen by Hyde were sandwiches, cans of beer, wine, chocolate, steaks, ready meals and a shopping basket.
Hyde was sent to prison for four months, partly due to the fact that offences were committed while he was on bail.
